Install on the camera
Download the package
Download the .eap file for the current release from the download page.
Allow unsigned apps
Log in to the camera's web interface as an administrator and open Apps. Turn on Allow unsigned apps. The RAVidEn package is unsigned, and the camera refuses to install unsigned packages until this setting is on.
Upload and start
On the same Apps page, choose Add app, select the .eap file and upload it. When the application appears in the list, start it.
Open the interface
Click Open on the RAVidEn entry. The RAVidEn interface opens in a new tab at the camera's address under /local/raviden/ui/.
A freshly installed RAVidEn draws a single line of text on the video that reads "RAVidEn: configure at /local/raviden/ui/". This lets you confirm that the overlay is working before anything is configured. The line disappears as soon as you save your own layout.
The interface
The overlay editor is the main page. Connections, the tag library, the DataBorder, stored data and application health open as panels from the navigation bar.
Every change is made in the browser and applied with Save & apply. The camera validates the configuration and applies it immediately. Nothing restarts and the video is not interrupted. If the configuration is not valid, the save is refused and the errors are listed.
If two people edit the configuration at the same time, the second person to save is warned that the configuration has changed on the camera. They can then choose to reload the other person's version or to overwrite it.
Updating
Upload the new .eap file over the old one from the Apps page. The configuration, the stored history and the DataBorder signing key are kept across updates and across camera reboots.
Removing
Uninstalling the application from the Apps page deletes its configuration and its stored history from the camera. Export the configuration first if you might want it back. See Export and import.
