Requirements

RAVidEn camera application requirements.

Camera

RequirementDetails
ChipThe camera must use an Axis ARTPEC-9 chip.
AXIS OSVersion 12.11 or later is required.
SettingAllow unsigned apps must be enabled on the camera's Apps page.

The package is unsigned, so the camera must be allowed to run unsigned apps. This is a switch on the Apps page and it does not affect anything else on the camera.

Machine data sources

A connection is one source of data. RAVidEn supports the following sources:

SourceConnects to
PLC over EtherNet/IPAllen-Bradley Logix, MicroLogix, Micro800, SLC 500 and PLC-5 controllers. See Allen-Bradley.
ABB robotIRC5 and OmniCore controllers over Robot Web Services. See ABB robot.
Camera eventsThe camera's own event system, which includes analytics, motion detection, tampering and the I/O ports. See Camera events.
DemoSimulated signals for building a layout when no controller is available. See Demo and diagnostics.
DiagnosticsThe camera's own CPU, memory and temperature, and the application's internal counters. See Demo and diagnostics.

Tag browsing is available for Logix controllers, ABB robots, camera events and the built-in sources.

Network

  • The camera must be able to reach the data sources.
  • Your browser must be able to reach the camera's web interface to configure RAVidEn. The RAVidEn interface is served by the camera itself and requires camera administrator rights.
  • Recording devices such as NVRs need network access to the camera. The camera appears to them as a standard video feed.

Limitations

  • It does not write to controllers.
  • It assumes one video channel per camera.
  • It draws on the H.264 and H.265 video streams only. JPEG snapshots and MJPEG streams are left untouched so that the overlay editor has a plain picture to work on.
